Open Mic.

So this last Thursday was my birthday, pretty good day but really long! I had class all day, it was kind of stressful but on Friday I kind felt like it was birthday. On Friday night we went to the campus ministry retreat. They gave me a cake and sung to me, it was really embarrassing! The retreat was about community and how to be that in the Malibu community! On Saturday night we had something called Open Mic., a time where anyone could stand up and tell something that is going on their life or how God is working in their life. Several guys stood up and talked about their families' struggles and how hard it is to be away from them while they are at Pepperdine, which I can totally relate to. And then several people stood up and praised God for their families and the chance to be able to give their testimonies. This girl stood up and talked about how she had had a vision the night before of Jesus and she talked about how she wanted to chase after him and how she wanted him to be in her life again. We prayed for several broken people and the situations they were in. It was unlike anything I have experienced before. I really felt like I was part of a community and that God had his hand on everything and everyone. I just really felt his presence in that room that night. It is in our brokenness and weakness that we find strength in God.
